Testing your concept on the target audience is an industry standard practice in ensuring a successful promotional campaign. It is also given a lot of significance by the exam board. This is the first of at least four audience research tasks. Use the following headings to layout your response. This is a blog post, ppt or prezi or short film/podcast.
Target audience: Explain who they are in terms of demographics and psychographics.
Purpose: To test your concept on a sample of your target audience. To ensure you are meeting audience expectations; considering conventions of the genre and the metanarative of the artist or band.
Methodology: Complete a questionnaire using Survey Monkey or another online template. Include a range of closed and open questions. Vary the format of your questions; for example, ranked and scaled questions. You should complete between 8 and 12 questions closely related to your ideas. Confirm your ideas with them and pose questions which are are currently unsure of (if there are any). Include a link to your track. Send to as many people as you can.
Questionnaire: Once it has been checked by KJ; send it off either public or private (your questions will reflect this) Post your questionnaire on the blog.
Results: Compile the results either on a blog post or a ppt or prezi. Use bar/pie charts to display quantitative information and select interesting qualitative information.
Evaluation: Reflect on your results and respond to them, considering both ones that agree with your ideas and ones which don't.
